Lois Lamprianidis

Lois Lambrianidis was born in Thessaloniki in 1954. He is an economic geographer with studies at the University of Sussex (MA) and the LSE (PhD). Currently, he is a professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Macedonia and the head of the Research Unit for Regional Development and Policy (RURDP). He has authored chapters in Greek and foreign language books, as well as the books: "The Geographical Dimension of Subcontracting Relationships in Industry" (Paratiritis, 2003), "Regional Universities in Greece" (Paratiritis, 1993), "Economic Geography" (Patakis, 2001), "Albanian Immigrants in Thessaloniki: Paths of Prosperity and Missteps of Public Image" (in collaboration with A. Lyberaki, Patakis, 2001), "Entrepreneurship in the European Countryside" (Patakis, 2005). He has also published articles in Greek and international journals. His main scientific interests include fields such as: the new economic geography of rural areas, industrial location, regional development incentives, area development programs, the geographical dimension of subcontracting relationships, the impacts of regional universities on local economies, the economic effects of Greek businesses expanding into Central and Eastern Europe, and the consequences of the influx of economic migrants into Greece.
