Stayros A. Katsios

Stavros Katsios was born in 1962 in Thessaloniki. He graduated from the German School of Thessaloniki and studied law at the Albertus Magnus University of Cologne and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He attended courses in International Law and Politics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He pursued postgraduate studies in European Community Law at the Europa-Institut of Saarland University in Saarbrucken. In 1997, he earned his doctorate in Commercial and International Economic Law from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since 1994, he has been teaching at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting at the Ionian University, focusing on subjects such as International Economic Relations, European Union Institutions, Economics, and Political Science, with research interests in international economic crime, particularly money laundering. Since 1990, he has been a practicing lawyer in Thessaloniki and a member of the German Bar Association (DAV) since 1998. He has been a professor at the National Security School in Athens since 1998 and an Assistant Professor of International Economic Relations at the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation, and Interpreting at the Ionian University since 2002. He is the author of the book "Money Laundering - The Geopolitics of the International Financial System" (Sakkoula Publications, Thessaloniki 1998) and has published a series of articles in Greek and international scientific journals.
