Alva Walter

Walter Alva lived and studied in Trujillo, northern Peru, where he earned his degree in archaeology with his thesis "Las Salinas de Chao." He dedicated himself to the study of pre-Inca civilizations and has been awarded numerous scholarships for his research. From 1975 to 1977, he was appointed head of archaeological monuments in the Lambayeque region, and since 1977, he has served as the director of the National Archaeological Museum of Brüning-Lambayeque. Among his many excavation projects in Peru, the discovery of the royal tombs of the Moche in Sipán made his name known worldwide. Today, he is a member of several archaeological institutes and an honorary professor at various universities in Peru. He has also been honored with numerous military and civil awards by the Peruvian government and currently leads the Sipán Archaeological Project.
