
Giorgos Xiarchos
Giorgos Xiarchos was born in Ampelofyto, Messinia, in 1964. He studied at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science at the University of Athens, where he focused on the study of History and Sports from the beginning of his studies. He later enrolled in the School of Theology and continued his postgraduate studies there. For several years, he taught subjects such as the History of Physical Education, Athletics in Ancient Greece, and the History of the Olympic Games at the School of Physical Education and Sport Science. In 1993, he attended the first preparatory seminar of the International Olympic Academy for prospective postgraduate students on Olympic Games topics. In 2000, he received a research scholarship from the Olympic Studies Centre in Lausanne to scientifically investigate the term religio athletae. He has published various scientific articles on History, Physical Education, and Sports topics and has presented original papers at international and Greek scientific conferences.
