Nikolaos Ilias

Nikolaos D. Elias was born in Athens in 1941 and grew up in Samos, where he engaged in water sports from a young age. He graduated from the Hellenic Naval Academy in 1962 and served as an officer and commander of various types of ships in the Navy until 1988. His experience and theoretical knowledge gained as a Navy officer and as a yacht owner are conveyed in a particularly substantial and original way in the publication of "Ropes and Knots." This follows his highly successful "Abacus for Collision Avoidance," published in 1990 in both Greek and English.
