Marilyn Yalom

Marilyn Yalom directed the Women's and Gender Studies program at Stanford University for many years. She is the author of several works, including "Le Temps des Orages: Aristocrates, bourgeoises et paysannes racontent" ["The Age of Storms: Aristocrats, Bourgeois Women, and Peasants Tell Their Stories"], 1989; "Blood Sisters: The French Revolution in Women's Memory," 1995; "Maternity, Mortality and the Literature of Madness," 1995; "A History of the Wife," 2001; "Birth of the Chess Queen," 2004; among others. In 1992, she was awarded the title of Officier des Palmes Académiques by the French government. She lives with her husband, author Irvin Yalom, in California.
