Kostas Yfantis

Dr. Kostas Yfantis is the Vice President of the Hellenic Centre for European Studies, an Associate Professor of International Relations in the Department of Political Science, and the Deputy Director of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the University of Athens. He studied law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and International Relations at the University of Bradford in England, where he was awarded his doctorate. He served as a lecturer in International and European Politics at the Universities of Bradford and Portsmouth in England (1991-1995) and worked at the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Special Advisor on European Defense Policy (1997-1998). In the summer of 1998, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Center for Political Studies at the University of Michigan, and in 2002, as a Fulbright Scholar at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Since March 2002, he has been a member of the Groupe de Reflexion Europeen of the Conseil Economique de la Defense (CED) of the French Ministry of Defense, and in October 2004, he was appointed Director of Research at the Center for Analysis and Planning of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has authored and edited books, and his studies have been included in collective volumes and scientific journals.
