Polyvios Polyviou

Poly Polyviou was born in 1949 in Nicosia and works as a lawyer. He studied Law at the University of Oxford and in London. In 1973, he pursued studies in International and Political Sciences at Princeton University in the United States. From 1973 to 1980, he served as a Lecturer in Law at the University of Oxford. Since 1981, he has been practicing law in Cyprus. In addition to his legal practice, Poly Polyviou has authored more than 20 books on constitutional law, contract law, labor law, and various topics in administrative law and human rights. He has also extensively engaged with the Cyprus problem, writing several books on the subject. His legal books have been recognized by foreign and Cypriot courts and are frequently cited in judicial decisions. As a legal expert, he has represented Cyprus in a series of significant cases before European Courts. He also participated in the "Kosovo" cases and on the issue of Colonialism before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, representing the Republic of Cyprus. Since 1974, he has been offering his services, both legal and otherwise, pro bono to the Republic of Cyprus and the President of the Republic of Cyprus at the time. He has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Law from the University of Cyprus.
