What do you need for Streaming!

Starting streaming, whether it's on Twitch, YouTube, Trovo, or anywhere else, is very simple.

However, people often get anxious and ask me what equipment to get. They fear that they need a huge Budget for their equipment, which results in them discouraging themselves from trying.

All you need is an idea and ideally a microphone and a camera. Oh yes, and a capable Internet connection!

We don't need to look at what peripherals the big Content Creators use because we can achieve a satisfactory audiovisual result without spending hundreds or thousands of euros.

A “Starter Pack” includes:

We don't need to look at the absolute result. The Content is us and not our equipment. The microphone produces quite good sound quality for the needs of most users. The Webcam is a very good Value For Money option, especially for use in Video and Streaming.

I would add either initially or in the future extra lighting if we don't have enough light in our space.

Webcams, like our mobile phone cameras, love light VERY much and need it so that our photos and videos are not full of noise. So, we must always make sure we have enough light.

So I recommend 2 RGB lamps from TP-Link, controlled through our mobile phone. They can be used either as extra “RGB” touches in our space or on our face, but also for natural light. Personally, I would put them in a lamp with an articulated arm that can be placed on the edges of our desk to save space, but of course you can use any lamp you have or want. Want something simpler? Then choose the Ring Light.

Obviously though, a microphone, no matter how cheap it is, is still an extra expense.

In this case, we can use a Headset with a satisfactory microphone! Either the one we already have, or one of these budget options that I have tried in the past and can recommend. This way we will have the headphones we generally need and a microphone that will somewhat do the job we want.

You now have the equipment you need and you are ready!

But remember, the key ingredient is you. Even if you can't buy everything I recommend, you can start with exactly what you have now. Don't overthink it!
