What is salicylic acid?

Salicylic acid belongs to the group of beta hydroxy acids (BHA). It comes from the bark of the white willow and is an active ingredient in aspirin. 

For which skin types is salicylic acid ideal?

It is one of the top active ingredients for oily and acne-prone skin. Although it is extremely effective, its use is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

What are its beneficial properties?

Salicylic acid removes accumulated dead cells from the surface of the skin and easily penetrates the pores, thus releasing excess sebum. This dual exfoliating action makes it ideal for oily and acne-prone skin, as it keeps excess oil under control and prevents the formation of new blackheads and acne.

How to incorporate it into your routine?

You can find a wide variety of skincare products with salicylic acid, mainly cleansers, serums and face creams. My advice? Limit yourself to using one or at most two products with salicylic acid so as not to cause irritation to your skin.
