Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
A magical adventure returns upgraded
Horizon is one of the most interesting franchises of PlayStation, with the protagonist Aloy being called to survive on an exhaustingly difficult planet full of robotic creatures and tribes that will do anything to dominate. The first game in the series was released about 7 years ago, specifically on March 1, 2017 (for the European market). The heroine appears in a future world, destroyed and overrun by machines, in which she searches for her past.
This was also the first new IP from Guerilla Games after Killzone in 2004 and their first action RPG. This initial venture was crowned with great success, as by last April it had sold over 24 million copies on consoles and PC, achieving a fairly high record for a PS4 title. The game received an expansion titled The Frozen Wilds, while in 2022 the release of Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 and PS5 followed.
Its action takes place from a third-person camera and the heroine collects items to craft weapons and enhance her equipment, while also receiving rewards when completing specific missions. With special mechanisms in her suit, she can detect where to go and what to do, as well as the weak points of her opponents to strike where necessary.
Sony, Guerilla Games, and Nixxes decided to bring this first adventure to PS5 and PC with improvements, in the form of an advanced remaster. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is released on October 31 and includes, apart from the main game, the expansion The Frozen Wilds. For the needs of the game, over 10 hours of dialogues have been recorded with new motion capture and graphical improvements, while the goal of the new version is resolution at 4K levels, with changes also seen in animation and lighting.
Regarding sound, Nixxes now supports the Tempest 3D Audio technology of the PS5, while also taking advantage of other system features, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense, as well as accessibility functions. The game will be compatible from the first day with the PS5 Pro and will offer even more improvements in imaging for Sony's next (mid-gen) system.
For the PC version, Trophies will now be supported, ultrawide resolutions, and imaging technologies such as NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3.1. Those who own the game Horizon Forbidden West on PC or PS4 or the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (PC, PS4, PS5) will be able to upgrade to the corresponding newer version.
