We might have found it for you. Padel!

What is padel?
Padel is a sport that is based on the use of a racket and combines elements from tennis, squash, and classic rackets, while some call it "tennis with walls." Its name (padel) is Spanish and means paddle, which is attributed to the shape of the racket.
It has gained great popularity due to its simplicity and fun character.
What makes it special?
Don't be intimidated by the term "sport." If you have ever played rackets on the beach even once in your life, then you can easily start! It is suitable for children from 6 years old, without any age limit, and can very easily become an activity for the whole family! It improves endurance, reflexes, physical condition, and enhances teamwork. The uniqueness of the period we are living in makes it an even more attractive option, as it takes place outdoors without requiring close distances between players. How is it played? Basic rules of padel Usually, it is played by 2 teams of 2 people each, in an enclosed space. This space is about 25% smaller than a tennis court, bordered by unbreakable glass walls and divided in the middle by a net.
The rules of padel are similar to those of tennis, with 2 main differences:
- The serve motion in padel is done from below.
- In padel, the glass walls become part of the game.
In general, the ball can bounce off the walls, but it is allowed to touch the ground only once before being hit back. A point is won when the ball bounces twice on the opponent's side.
The score is measured in the same unique way as in tennis:
- A game is divided into sets, games, and points.
- A set consists of games (at least 6), which in turn consist of points. Usually, the game is decided in three sets (best of three), and the team that wins two sets (2-0 or 2-1) wins.
- A team wins the set when it has won six games, with a difference of at least two games from the opponent (e.g., 6-3, 6-4, or 7-5).
- A team wins the game when it has scored at least 4 points with a difference of at least two points from the opponent.
Skroutz Tip: If this scoring method seems complicated to you, you can choose a simpler system with your teammates. After all, the main thing is to have fun! (Unless you have a Monica Geller inside you, in which case rules and winning are everything!)

Step 2: Find a padel court
Nowadays, you can find them in many areas and the rental for one hour usually does not exceed 10 euros per person (in a group of four), while you can also rent a racket if you don't have your own. Additionally, most courts offer padel lesson packages.
How did padel start?
There are various versions regarding the origin of padel.
One version suggests that padel was invented many years ago on British cruise ships for the entertainment of passengers.
The most prevalent version suggests that padel was invented in 1969 in Acapulco, Mexico by Enrique Corcuera. His friend, Alfonso de Hohenlohe, visited him and liked this new sport so much that he decided to bring it to his country, Spain, in 1974.
