Traditional forms of addressing crime, such as the death penalty, monetary fines, and deprivation of liberty, are examined through their historical and contemporary developments in Greece and the main Western European countries, while at the same time, new (extramural) forms of penal repression, such as community service, are analyzed and evaluated.

This is a work written with vividness and responsible scientific documentation, a work that, as noted already in a previous edition (Nik. Libos, bibliocrit. in "Armenopoulos," 1986, 562), "further 'establishes' bibliographically those who are trying to establish a modernized correctional legislative concept in our country."
