The present new edition of Family Law has become necessary due to two fundamental legislative developments. Chronologically, it was preceded by the passing of law 4335/2015, which brought extensive amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure. In this context, particular importance for family law mainly lies - although not only - in the restructuring of articles 592 et seq. of the Code of Civil Procedure, with the establishment of a unified special procedure for "disputes arising from marriage, family, and free association."
On the other hand, in the field of family law, the establishment of new legislation for civil partnerships (law 4356/2015) has been fundamental, which expanded this institution to same-sex couples, upgrading its legal consequences to such an extent that they significantly approach those of marriage. Furthermore, provisions relevant to family law have been included in certain other recent legislations. For example, law 4272/2014 contains regulations that modified law 3305/2005 regarding medically assisted reproduction.
With the updated analyses of the 2nd edition, the legal practitioner has at their disposal the most modern and valid picture of Family Law as it stands today.
