Description

Description

One of the most distinguished international scholars in decision-making, James March, provides in this book an alphabet of how decisions are made in modern organizations (businesses and public organizations).

The author sheds light on decision-making by thoroughly exploring four questions: First, is decision-making based on the rational choices of individuals or on social rules and conventions that individuals have internalized? Second, is decision-making primarily a logical and clear process or, conversely, governed by ambiguity and inconsistency? Third, is decision-making significant solely because of the expected outcomes, or does it also have broader symbolic meaning? And fourth, to what extent should the results of decision-making be attributed only to individuals and not to broader interactions among individuals, organizations, and societies?
