I tried them and I was disappointed. While as an idea they seem good, in practice they did not live up to our expectations. Indeed, they are very easy to install. Definitely easier than traditional chains. The plastic seems durable and so were the small (metal) pins that are placed in various points on the plastic.
However... the straps, especially at the seams, proved to be "fragile". After 1 kilometer on a snow-covered road, they tore at the joint, leaving us stranded. When I got down and checked, I saw that some of the metal pins had also come off their position. Within a distance of 2 kilometers, three out of the six straps broke. I never managed to reach my destination and had to turn back.
Possibly, the fact that we had to put on the chains on an uphill part of the road because our front wheels got stuck and after we stopped, it was impossible to start on the uphill, might be to blame. So, possibly the extra strain in the effort to start uphill destroyed them. But on the other hand, most of the time in such situations, you are forced to put on chains and not on a flat part of the road completely problem-free.
