Description & Specifications

Life is a huge supermarket. Each person's cart loaded with goods. But in front of the cashier, the wallet of fate is empty...

All of Michalis' life... one last cigarette. One last cigarette before he decides to marry the woman he loved, even though he was so young. One last cigarette before he ventures into a risky professional step that propelled him to the top only to throw him into an endless abyss.

One last cigarette, to avoid jumping into the void when his life, his job, his dreams, and his love turned to ashes and cigarette butts... And one last cigarette, when the threat of a insidious disease stood before him and his daughter sank into her darkness; nervous anorexia began to torment her days, but Michalis was determined not to let his child become ashes in her pyre.

By his side, Markella, the guardian angel of his life and a true friend that one only encounters in books... Or maybe not? A story about a man's life who met fire. A story about a... last cigarette...

Read an excerpt

Eva felt her face flush with blood and burn with embarrassment. Surely, if her godmother hadn't had that accident three years ago, she would be willing to stage one herself at this very moment, with the same tragic results. No one had ever heard her baptismal name until her wedding day, when the church was filled with her friends. She could almost see some of their sarcastic smiles.

Next to Eva was Michalis. At every wedding, usually the bride steals the show, but this groom managed to draw attention with his bright gaze, overflowing with love for the girl becoming his wife at that very moment. He turned, looked at her, and smiled. To him, she seemed the most beautiful woman in the world. He had already forgotten the irritation caused by her beyond-acceptable delay. He had waited over three quarters of an hour on the church steps, and when, at the moment he kissed her, he asked why she was so late, she replied irritably: "Can't you see? I almost didn't come! That silly hairdresser did her own thing!"
