Former owner of iPad 2, iPad mini 1, after some time I decided to choose Apple again for a tablet, having been satisfied with the company's performance in this area and having seen some reviews for this specific product. Holding the tablet in my hands justified once again for everything it offers at this price! Having the tablet for 6 months, I have to say the following:
1. Screen resolution: 2K 9.7" FLAWLESS in everything.. from realistic color representation to gaming, the graphics look very good. Displaying photos from a DSLR puts many laptop screens and desktops to shame, as they appear on the screen as if you are seeing them live with almost no color distortion... you can easily sit and enjoy movies or videos with equally realistic colors and without straining your eyes after 2 hours of viewing!
2. Speed: although timed at 2.34 GHz with 4 cores and 2GB of RAM, characteristics from 3 years ago for some.. it opens and runs smoothly without any application freezing when asked, as it works with 2 apps simultaneously with multitasking and as many apps as you want running in the background, as well as very fast browsing without any lag! Helping of course the software here, it "fits" perfectly with the hardware making it work flawlessly once again!
3. Weight: relatively light without tiring you if you hold it for a long time in your hands, as it is only 469g and its dimensions of length, width, thickness "sit" very well in the hand.
4. Speakers: very good, loud enough with very good bass that make you want to listen to music without headphones or hands-free, only from the speaker!
5. Battery: about 8,000 mAh if I'm not mistaken.. it easily lasts a "full" day with browsing, games, YouTube, social media, and movies, having watched 2 movies on the tablet and the battery was still at 25%! With normal to moderate daily use, it definitely lasts 2-3 days.
6. Camera: here is perhaps an area where it lacks, like most tablets, as you don't buy them primarily for the camera but for other reasons.. I would say it is average, although I have not used it more than 1-2 times.
7. Durability: with a good case and a screen protector, it is not afraid of anything as it has fallen 3 times from relatively low heights without suffering any damage.. without a case and screen protector, it is a bit risky as if it falls with the screen facing down, due to its large surface, there are many chances for the screen to crack.
8. Capacity: 32GB depending on how you use them, for some it is a lot, for others it is a little. For example, for me, having some "large" space-consuming apps and many photos from a DSLR, each around 20MB, is not enough, just as for those with large apps or updates, 32GB is not suitable as it is a device that, if taken care of, easily lasts 3-4 years.. so I believe that 128GB is more suitable, speaking subjectively of course.
9. Connectivity: If you have another Apple device, obviously you have experienced the "ecosystem" of the company. If not, it takes a little more time to "transfer" movies, photos, music into the device through iTunes. But nowadays, most things are done wirelessly (Netflix, YouTube, Dropbox, Apple Music, Spotify, etc.), so the cable is unnecessary for some of these tasks, like backups, which can also be done wirelessly. It works seamlessly with other Apple devices if you have them, through AirDrop or iCloud, automatically transferring whatever you have on one device to the others.
10. Price: At around €290, for a tablet with all that it offers and the quality-price ratio, I believe there is no immediate competition with other tablets on the market. It is worth the money, not because it is Apple, but because of everything it clearly offers at this price. Also, for someone who wants to enter the world of tablets without having to spend a fortune like with high-end tablets, it is a great option
