  • Variety

    Cabernet Franc

    Often used in blends with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but also produces excellent single-varietal wines. It has a lighter body than Cabernet Sauvignon, with aromas of red fruits (raspberry, cherry), characteristic vegetal notes (pepper, tomato leaves), and sometimes graphite.

    Cabernet Sauvignon

    It produces wines with intense tannins, full body, and characteristic aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, black cherry), often with notes of cedar, mint, or tobacco. They have excellent aging potential.

    Merlot

    It gives wines with soft tannins, medium acidity, and aromas of red fruits (cherry, plum), often with notes of herbs or chocolate. They are rounder and softer on the palate compared to Cabernet Sauvignon.

    Petit Verdot

    It offers intense color, strong tannins, and aromas of black fruits, violet, and spices, usually in blends.

One of the most characteristic and typical Margaux wines, renowned for its elegance, smoothness, and finesse. It is one of the 14 Troisièmes Crus in the 1855 classification.

References to the ownership of the Giscours estate date back to the 14th century; however, the estate was developed in 1845 when it was purchased by the banker Count de Pescatore, who two years later hired Skawinski, a prominent figure who managed the vineyards for 50 years and highlighted the unique terroir.

In 1995, Chateau Giscours was acquired by Eric Albada Jelgersma. A Margaux that should be in your collection.
