I got it to hang under the patio awning at a relative’s house. The handyman who installed it called it “cheap/fake,” but my relative likes it a lot, so I consider it a success and good value for the price.

The positives:
1. It appears to be made from cast metal/iron (rough texture).
2. Quite sturdy plastic that will last for years.
3. The "glass" closes well so there is no way for small flies to get inside the light.

The negatives:
1. Its rough texture will collect dirt that will be hard to clean.
2. It is designed to use the same parts for different lighting fixture designs (evident in the instructions), which makes assembly difficult.
3. For the same reason (2), changing the bulb while on a ladder is extremely difficult to impossible.
4. The cover for the wires and the ceiling clamp is small, making it hard to hide a connector inside.
5. The chain is plastic and quite large and disproportionate to the whole fixture.

if it didn't let water in it would be a good choice for the balcony

Big and very impressive! It looks like stone while it is resin! It requires assembly! But it is easy! Very good for its money!!!
