Back when the Earth was still new, the very difficult, impossible tasks were accomplished by heroes. And first among them was Hercules, who took on the Lernaean Hydra: the Water of the Flood, which had countless heads, all of them bloodthirsty monsters, from the first to the last, the most terrifying, the darkest – the most immortal. Description

Description

Back when the Earth was still new, the very difficult, impossible tasks were accomplished by heroes. And first among them was Hercules, who took on the Lernaean Hydra: the Water of the Flood, which had countless heads, all of them bloodthirsty monsters, from the first to the last, the most terrifying, the darkest – the most immortal. And he defeated it too. The Mythological Tales series attempts a new "reading" of ancient Greek myths. They are not old, oft-repeated stories of forgotten gods, but exciting action tales, through which all the timeless human adventures, fears, and joys that have marked and still mark the human soul unfold.

Read an excerpt

At the time when the world was still newborn, the Earth slept and woke up embraced by Water. At night, islands and seas, lands and lakes would fall asleep, and in the morning mountains and waterfalls and seas and vast plains would rise. Waters and soils, hair tangled in knots. And as if that were not enough, all the gods, in the east and west, south and north, began to unleash their floods, one after another, to drown other rival gods, the entire world, or only humans. There was the flood of Deucalion and Pyrrha, that of Dardanus, that of Noah... Normally, that world should not have been called a world; it should have been called a flood.
