When the oppressed animals of Manor Farm revolt against their owner, Mr. Jones, and take over the farm, they imagine it as the beginning of a life of freedom and equality. However, gradually, a cunning and ruthless elite among them, led by the pigs Napoleon and Snowball, begins to take control of the situation. Soon, the other animals discover that not all are equally equal as they believed and find themselves trapped as one form of tyranny is replaced by another. Orwell's chilling "fairy story" is a timeless and devastating satire of idealism betrayed by power and corruption.
