Based on a dispositional theory of action, this work proposes the fundamental principles of producing artistic demand and, consequently, any cultural program aimed at ensuring access to works of art for all.
Museums, theaters, and dance stages continue to select their audiences based on social criteria, and this happens because the silent conditions for accessing works of official culture – that is, early exposure to them (connected to high social origin), as well as formal education – remain unevenly distributed among social groups.
Confirming that cultural practices are products of social determinations and not "personal inclinations," as the ideology of "charm" suggests, this work shows that the lack of examination of the social conditions that enable aesthetic disposition and capability is the main condition for the reproduction of this ideology.
