Description

Pectus Carinatum is a common condition in which the sternum protrudes outward. This chest deformity can be reduced or even eliminated by using a compressive splint, as the bones have the ability to remodel. By wearing the splint for a sufficient period (usually more than 6 months), the bones begin to take their normal shape. After correcting the deformity, the application of the splint should continue only during sleep for about 6 months to prevent the problem from reoccurring.

The brace consists of a thoracic pad with a plastic base and foam lining in its anterior part, placed on a semicircular aluminum rod, where it is connected to the leather posterior part with two compression adjustment mechanisms for the brace around the chest circumference. It also features two height-adjustable straps concerning its support on the user's chest.

The brace is custom-made per case, so its size results from the chest circumference, where there is room for adjustment and pressure regulation.
