The disk was purchased for upgrading a Lenovo Thinkpad T450 laptop. It was recognized directly by the BIOS and then disk partitioning and formatting were done without any issues (Debian Linux was installed). So far, the disk works flawlessly, although I have seen temperatures consistently at 60°.

Μέχρι στιγμής ο δίσκος λειτουργεί αποβλημάτιστα, αν και έχω δει θερμοκρασίες σταθερά στους 60°.
At first, it was giving me Blue screen on Windows 10 and freezing. After updating it with the latest firmware, it works perfectly.
Στην αρχή μου έβγαζε Blue screen στα windows 10 και κόλλαγε. Μετά απο την αναβάθμισή του με το τελευταίο firmware δουλεύει άψογα.
This concerns the 512Gb version (TS512GMTS430S). It was installed as a secondary drive in a DELL E5470 laptop. The main drive is also an M.2 SATA but full-length (2280) Samsung 860 EVO 1Tb. It was also tested in an external USB 3.1 enclosure.
It performs well in terms of hardware, being fast with DRAM and SLC caching, and features like hardware encryption and secure erase.
Unfortunately, during the writing of large files, it reaches VERY high temperatures, reaching up to 98 degrees, and even in idle, the temperature does not drop below 53 degrees. For comparison, the average temperature of the Samsung drive is 33 degrees, rarely exceeding 42, and the absolute maximum throughout its lifespan was 63 degrees.
The drive works and has a 5-year warranty, but there is a problem. I don't understand how it can withstand such operating temperatures in the long run. It should be equipped with some kind of heatsink or come with a strict recommendation for using a heatsink. However, due to its size (2242), it is primarily intended for tight spaces in laptops, where the use of a heatsink, if not provided by the computer manufacturer, is difficult or impossible. I will have to determine if this is a problem specific to this particular unit or a general issue, and I will come back with an update.
I am attaching the image of the drive's temperatures from the HDSentinel Pro program.
Oh! The management software from Transcend only offers the basics, including a cloning program. Also, in my case, it was installed but does not launch (Windows 10).

In the end, the drive was deemed defective by the store where I purchased it, and they took it back. I did not get another one, so I cannot know if it was an isolated incident, but I fear it is a general problem with the 512Gb version, due to the many fast chips that require a lot of power to "run" at these speeds, being on a very small board that cannot dissipate their heat.

Μένει να διαπιστώσω αν είναι προβληματικό μόνο το συγκεκριμένο κομμάτι ή είναι γενικό θέμα και θα επανέλθω.

Δεν πήρα άλλον οπότε δεν μπορώ να ξέρω αν ήταν μεμονωμένο περιστατικό αλλά φοβάμαι ότι είναι γενικό πρόβλημα στην έκδοση των 512Gb, λόγω πολλών και γρήγορων chip που χρειάζονται μπόλικο ρεύμα για να "τρέξουν" σε αυτές τις ταχύτητες, όντας επάνω σε πολύ μικρή πλακέτα που αδυνατεί να απάγει τη θερμότητά τους.

Oh! The management software from Transcend only offers the basics, including a cloning program. Also, in my case, it was installed but does not launch (Windows 10).

In the end, the drive was deemed defective by the store where I purchased it, and they took it back. I did not get another one, so I cannot know if it was an isolated incident, but I fear it is a general problem with the 512Gb version, due to the many fast chips that require a lot of power to "run" at these speeds, being on a very small board that cannot dissipate their heat.
Αφορά στην έκδοση των 512Gb (TS512GMTS430S). Τοποθετήθηκε ως βοηθητικός σε laptop DELL E5470. Κύριος δίσκος είναι ένας επίσης M.2 SATA αλλά πλήρους μήκους (2280) Samsung 860 EVO 1Tb. Επίσης δοκιμάστηκε σε εξωτερική θήκη USB 3.1.
Δείχνει καθ' όλα αξιόλογος από άποψη hardware, όντας ταχύτατος με DRAM και SLC caching και δυνατότητες όπως hardware encryption και secure erase.
Δυστυχώς όμως κατά την εγγραφή μεγάλων αρχείων ανεβάζει ΠΟΛΥ μεγάλες θερμοκρασίες, φθάνοντας να ψήνεται στους 98 βαθμούς ενώ ακόμα και σε αδράνεια η θερμοκρασία του δεν πέφτει κάτω από τους 53. Για σύγκριση, η μέση θερμοκρασία του Samsung είναι 33 βαθμοί, πολύ σπάνια ξεπερνά τους 42 και η απόλυτη μέγιστη σε όλη την διάρκεια της ζωής του ήταν 63 βαθμοί.
Ο δίσκος δουλεύει και έχει 5 χρόνια εγγύηση αλλά υπάρχει πρόβλημα. Δεν καταλαβαίνω πως μπορεί ανταπεξέλθει μακροπρόθεσμα σε τέτοιες θερμοκρασίες λειτουργίας. Θα έπρεπε να διατίθεται με κάποιου είδους ψήκτρα ή με αυστηρή σύσταση για χρήση ψήκτρας. Όμως, λόγω μεγέθους (2242), εξ ορισμού προορίζεται κυρίως για στενόχωρες θέσεις σε laptop, όπου η χρήση ψήκτρας, αν δεν έχει προβλεφθεί από τον κατασκευαστή του υπολογιστή, είναι από δύσκολη έως αδύνατη. Μένει να διαπιστώσω αν είναι προβληματικό μόνο το συγκεκριμένο κομμάτι ή είναι γενικό θέμα και θα επανέλθω.

Α! το software διαχείρισης της Trancend προσφέρει μόνο τα βασικά, μεταξύ των οποίων και πρόγραμμα για cloning. Επίσης, στην περίπτωσή μου εγκαταστάθηκε μεν αλλά δεν εκκινεί (Windows 10)

Τελικά ο δίσκος χαρακτηρίστηκε ελαττωματικός και από το κατάστημα αγοράς και τον πήρε πίσω. Δεν πήρα άλλον οπότε δεν μπορώ να ξέρω αν ήταν μεμονωμένο περιστατικό αλλά φοβάμαι ότι είναι γενικό πρόβλημα στην έκδοση των 512Gb, λόγω πολλών και γρήγορων chip που χρειάζονται μπόλικο ρεύμα για να "τρέξουν" σε αυτές τις ταχύτητες, όντας επάνω σε πολύ μικρή πλακέτα που αδυνατεί να απάγει τη θερμότητά τους.
I have the Lenovo Thinkpad T440s, which accepts m.2 only sata3 2242. In my case, this drive is a very good choice for its price. It comes with a program that does the basics, not Samsung of course but I have no complaints.
Έχω το Lenovo Thinkpad T440s το οποίο δέχεται m.2 μονο sata3 2242. Στην περίπτωσή μου, ο δίσκος αυτός είναι πολύ καλή επιλογή για τα χρήματά του.
Συνοδεύεται απο ενα πρόγραμμα που κάνει τα βασικά, samsung δεν είναι βέβαια αλλα δεν έχω παράπονο.
