The Institute of Modern Greek Studies (Manolis Triantafyllidis Foundation) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki today publicly presents the book of the late professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy, Nikolaos P. Andriotis, titled A History of the Greek Language.
Of the four parts of the work, the first two, which address the ancient and later history of the Greek language, were published in the composite work A History of the Greek Nation by the Athens Publishing House and were granted to the Andriotis family for this republication. The Institute wishes to add its own thanks.
The third section, on the medieval language, needed to be compiled from notes that the late Andriotis either used during his teaching or distributed to his students. This work was assigned by the Board of Directors to the former scientific collaborator of the Institute and now professor of Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy, Mr. Charalampos Symeonidis, who also expresses his gratitude from this position.
Finally, the fourth part, which refers to the Modern Greek language, was submitted by the Andriotis family, typewritten by the author himself, who intended it for publication along with the other parts.
