By far the worst purchase I have ever made

I bought the General Electric 24,000 BTU expecting it to adequately replace an older Airwell 18,000 BTU, which worked flawlessly for 10 years. The space I want to heat/cool is about 40 sq.m. — nothing excessive for a machine of this power.

Unfortunately, the General Electric proved disappointing in every way. It runs for endless hours and can't even manage to heat the space. The air it produces is at the correct temperature (as confirmed twice by the technician who came), but the intensity is so weak that it practically doesn't affect the room beyond 1–2 meters.

The result? An overpriced machine that consumes electricity, works non-stop, and delivers absolutely nothing. Money thrown away, and in the worst possible way — because we're not talking about a cheap product.

I truly regret it. If you're thinking of investing in this model, think again. It can't provide even basic heating, not even in a normal living room.

    Verified purchase

24,000 BTU for a living room kitchen of 50 square meters comfortably satisfied with the heating that I have used it for. For cooling, we will see in the summer for sure because I didn't have a chance to experience hot temperatures, but it worked perfectly fine in September.

Recently, I purchased a 24,000 BTU (€675) and a 12,000 BTU (€450) air conditioner on sale, and this review is based on the purchase price. I was initially skeptical as I had no prior experience with this brand. Firstly, they cool very well in the areas they were installed (12,000 BTU in a 30 sqm space and 24,000 BTU in a 60 sqm space). They are quiet on low fan speed, while on medium they make normal noise. The 24,000 BTU unit makes a loud noise on high, but it didn't need to operate there as it quickly cools the room. Their plastic parts are of excellent quality and there is no sound of any kind from temperature differences. Their design is also very elegant, and they have Wi-Fi, a backlit remote control, an ionizer, and automatic horizontal movement of internal blinds that can be adjusted from it. What impressed me (in this price category) is that the 24,000 BTU unit has a split blind and can take such independent positions that you don't feel any cold air draft in both cooling and heating (HEALTH AIRFLOW), which I found necessary as the sofas are 2-3 meters away from it.

According to the label on the outdoor units, they are manufactured in HAIER's factory, which is one of the largest in China. The 12,000 BTU unit has a HITACHI compressor and the 24,000 BTU unit has a MITSUBISHI compressor. However, be careful with the dimensions as the 24,000 BTU unit is huge both inside and outside. Fortunately, the outdoor units are almost silent.

Their SEER and SCOP ratings are above average, which means they are economical in terms of power consumption. Finally, they are imported by INVENTOR and they come with a 5-year warranty on all parts without the need for annual servicing. However, they need to be registered on the importer's website to validate the warranty.

NOTE: The installation plays a crucial role, where a minimum length of 3 meters of copper pipe should be used, and air should be evacuated with a vacuum pump!

EDIT MAY 2022: -2 stars because the dealership reduced the warranty period from 5 years to 2 years for new purchases
