Its optical design includes Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics, which helps nearly eliminate chromatic aberrations and fringing for remarkable clarity and color fidelity. Additionally, an ultra-low dispersion element and an aspherical element reduce various aberrations and distortions for greater sharpness and resolution.

Individual elements also feature Air Sphere Coating to suppress flare and ghosting and contribute to color fidelity and high contrast in bright lighting conditions. The Ultrasonic Motor, in a ring-type shape, provides fast and nearly silent autofocus, with the ability for manual adjustments at any time. A unique control ring is integrated into the lens design for easy control over exposure settings.
