Mildly 3 stars. After 7 years of using Suunto watches, I decided, based on comments and opinions from Garmin users, to proceed with the purchase of the Fenix 6 Pro. The watch is not worth its money. It was sold after 4 months and I bought the Suunto 9 Baro Titanium, which is now cheaper.

Specifically, the build quality of the two companies is day and night. I don't know if it's due to the manufacturing country of the two products (China-Finland), but it is not justified for a €480 watch to have such a strap. It faded in the first month. The bezel of the watch showed signs of wear and lost its paint, and I literally took care of it like my own eyes. The unnecessary and impractical up-down buttons lost their tactile feel after use in the bathroom. They were responsive, but no longer clicked. It's probably due to the shower gel. As a user of the Suunto Spartan Baro for 6 years, I used it in the sea, during exercises, hiking with falls, even from the first floor, as my son thought it was a good idea, and it didn't even get a scratch. If you want a reliable and high-quality working watch, Suunto is the way to go.

Now, onto the rest. The Garmin screen has amazing resolution and connectivity is at the same level, maybe even slightly more direct than Suunto. Garmin is fully customizable with colors, flowers, music, and birds. It's a little gadget. Its measurements are controversial. So, if you want a gadget, look for something like an Apple Watch or a good smartwatch. If you want a sport watch for everyday use, a faithful companion in adversity and measurements, then Suunto. The user interface is also more difficult on Garmin. Just to clarify, the Fenix is a good watch, but inferior in terms of build quality, use, and beauty, which is subjective, of course.

What can one say about this watch... after 1.5 years of continuous use (purchased as used + 1 year from the day I bought it, so 2.5 years of operation), its battery life is still impressive, easily lasting 13 days with at least one running workout per day using GPS and generally having the pulse oximeter turned off. Excellent, sturdy, and robust construction. Countless functions, even for the most demanding triathlete (and not only). For me, it covers my needs in running, cycling, and hiking with its accurate measurements and display on preloaded maps, as well as through the Garmin app on my phone.
Words are unnecessary; I can't praise it any more. You might think I'm getting a commission from Garmin itself.
My only complaint (if it can be called a complaint) is that the original Garmin straps are very expensive, and the OEM rubber ones wear out quite quickly, so you should know that they need to be replaced regularly to avoid any inconvenience. I haven't tried the fabric ones because I don't think they match aesthetically.

I won't say something you haven't read. Basic principle, it's a sportwatch and not a smartwatch. However, I believe that someone who is looking in this price range knows exactly what they are looking for.
I will compare it to the AW Series 3 that I had before for running and in terms of this field, it's day and night. The watch is made exclusively for sports activities and it does everything (almost) perfectly.
Pros:
+ Incredible battery to the point where you forget to charge it. If you push it a little and activate the power saving mode while you sleep, the autonomy exceeds expectations.
+ Its measurements, if compared to the AW, are more or less the same, especially in terms of distance, which is one of the main requirements. It has a small issue with the current pace, but it doesn't show in the average pace at the end.
+ It updates the data every 1 second (adjustable) without affecting the battery life.
+ It tracks everything ALL day. Heart rate, blood oxygen levels, energy levels, etc.
+ You enjoy running with it!
Cons:
- It doesn't look like a 650€ watch, I would say more like a 450€ one. It is of good quality, but it doesn't give off a premium image corresponding to its price, neither in appearance nor in the buttons when pressed.
- The screen doesn't have the resolution that an AW has, but that's understandable. It just takes a little getting used to if you switch from an AW.
Would I buy it again at this price? I think so.
Would I buy an AW again after using Garmin? Absolutely not. Especially in terms of battery life, the AW is a joke.

EDIT: Now that the 7 is out, it's the best opportunity to get the 6 Pro. Because I happened to play with the 7x specifically for a few days, it's exactly the same thing. In my opinion, it's not worth the price it currently has for the 7.

This watch came to replace the Amazfit Stratos 2 and the purchase was made after much thought, as I was torn between this and the 3+ times cheaper Stratos 3. What concerned me mainly was whether it was worth spending so much money on a sportwatch (being a hobbyist and not an athlete) and what more it would offer me. I will start backwards, giving the conclusions first and some comments afterwards.

By spending 1/3 of the money, you will buy something that does almost 90% of what the Garmin Fenix 6 Pro does and will fully satisfy the majority of people who are into sports as a hobby. I can't say that I regret the purchase, but I am discovering that the watch's capabilities are much more than I will ever need or bother to use. It is the best and most complete sportwatch, but it is aimed at professional athletes. If you are a common mortal like me, buy something more affordable that will meet your needs. The market is now big and there are many good options in the 100-200 euro range.

But what are the features that make it stand out? In short:
- Battery life (with the pulseOX sensor turned off, it lasts 15 days, otherwise close to 10)
- Excellent build quality that inspires absolute confidence.
- Fast GPS satellite lock
- Infinite customization both in the watch's settings and in the sport settings. You can literally make it exactly how you want.
- Connectivity with accessories (Bluetooth headsets, HR chest strap) and with your phone. Instant connection without any issues.
- Topographic maps loaded on the watch. If you're crazy and get lost in forests and mountains... you won't get lost anymore.
- Accuracy of measurements
- A plethora of apps and watchfaces on the Connect IQ store.

In conclusion, it is truly an impressive sportwatch, but its price and capabilities make it more suitable for professionals!

6 month update: After 6 months of daily and continuous use, I remain 100% satisfied. It does not show signs of excessive wear, it has some scratches, etc., but everything is within reasonable limits. The battery lasts around 12 days, depending on the use of GPS in the apps. Its running, trail running, treadmill, cycling, and swimming apps have been extensively tested, and the measurements appear fine and in agreement with other watches I happened to compare it with. It has also been tested for swimming in the sea and so far, no issues have been encountered.

Years user of Fenix (series 2, 3, 5, 5+) did not expect anything less.
The watch is a tool for athletes, not a smartwatch. It lacks screen resolution, has bulk and weight with fewer smart functions - However, it is high-quality, reliable with countless settings, long battery life, maps, NFC payments (supports Alpha Bank) and durability as needed for a sports watch. I consider the transflective screen with excellent clarity a advantage that increases in outdoor environments and that it supports anything that exists in external sensors (power, Heart, Speed, heat, etc.) for even greater accuracy in measurements. The mobile app is excellent and never loses connection. Its battery in normal operation with always-on IPS display lasts for weeks (without using GPS, Music player). For example, in 24 hours of normal use (without activity/music), the battery only dropped by 2%!

If you want the best watch for sports with exceptional build quality, choose Fenix 6 Pro (not the basic one).
For an economical fitness watch with slightly more smart features, there is also the Stratos 3.
The other smartwatches (Samsung Galaxy, Huawei GT, TicWatch) are beautiful with impressive screens and the ability to record running/cycling/hiking, etc. but they lose reliability mainly in terms of Heart rate as the optical ones often give incorrect readings. Additionally, in most of the ones I have tried, I had issues with GPS accuracy.
