In the series of auxiliary books "Language Exercises in Ancient Greek," this book for the 2nd Grade of Gymnasium is structured according to the 18 units of the school textbook "Ancient Greek Language for the 2nd Grade of Gymnasium" and includes a brief theory on etymological, grammatical, syntactical, and lexical-semantic phenomena and a multitude of exercises for their consolidation.
Specifically, the topics developed are:
-from Etymology: word composition, hybrid compounds, parasynthetic compounds, other ways of word formation, and changes in word meanings,
-from Grammar: 3rd declension of nouns, 3rd declension of adjectives, subjunctive, optative, and imperative of active and middle voice of barytone verbs, indicative future and subjunctive, optative, and imperative present of the verb "to be," reciprocal pronouns, possessive pronouns, interrogative pronouns "who," "which," "what," indefinite pronouns "someone," "something," and relative pronouns "who," "which," "what," and "whoever,"
-from Syntax: connection of clauses or terms of a clause, impersonal construction, direct and indirect object, adverbial and predicative participles, types of modifiers, nominative modifiers, genitive modifiers, adverbial modifiers, and prepositional adverbial modifiers,
-and from Lexical Tables: the basic words with their cognates are mentioned.
For each etymological, grammatical, syntactical, and lexical-semantic phenomenon, many and varied exercises are provided (most in the form of notebook sheets), simple but also complex, easy but also somewhat challenging, whose solutions, with the active participation of the student and the development of initiative on their part, directly contribute to the consolidation of the provided material. Thus, the student, referring to the necessary unit, will find the appropriate exercises to understand and assimilate the new material and to better know the Grammar and Syntax of the Ancient Greek Language, which is a basic prerequisite for their training in ancient Greek discourse, resulting in better performance in the Ancient Greek course.
In a special appendix at the end of the book, the answers to the exercises are provided by unit, so that the student, referring to them, can be sure of the correctness of the solution.
