Animation, a beloved art form familiar to most children, presents a challenge for the modern school world of performances and communication. Its creation involves a variety of materials, technologies, and techniques, engaging diverse media and methods. Recently, it has appeared as an activity in preschool classrooms while attracting the interest of researchers.
This book presents the study of the inclusion of animation in the educational process within three preschool classrooms and is aimed at primary education teachers, parents, students, researchers, and all those interested in the education of young children today.
Approach processes to the materiality of frame-by-frame moving images and their utilization for meaning-making, expression, and creation are documented and interpreted step-by-step in qualitative research narrative tools. Through 14 learning stories, practical experiences are organized and articulated; the relationship between teaching, learning, and development over time is examined; practice is linked to theory, animation to curriculum.
The DVD included with the book contains supporting material for the storytelling, organized into folders: documented learning moments and children's creations such as multimodal texts, animatics, flip books, storyboards, scripts, and short animation films.
