The publication by the Ideological Commission of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece compiles articles and analyses concerning a critical issue for the strategy and tactics of the Communist Party and for its prospects within the country's mass popular movement. It pertains to the position and stance of the Communist Party of Greece regarding the European Union and the ongoing process of capitalist unification.
The texts included in this publication have been published in the newspaper Rizospastis and the theoretical-political magazine of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece, Communist Review, during the 1990s.
Through this publication, emphasis is placed on the intra-capitalist contradictions and conflicts within the European Union, the stance and positions of political parties, the class antagonisms that these decisions have provoked and continue to provoke between the working class and allied popular strata, the rural population, scientists, youth, and women. The aim of this publication is to assist the reader in understanding the overall character of the EU as an imperialist alliance of capitalist member states, the temporary nature of its unity, and the various centrifugal forces, which do not guarantee the 'friendship and good neighborliness of peoples', but to understand where the overall stance of the Communist Party of Greece is rooted.
