Falernum is a sweet liqueur or syrup, with or without alcohol, from the Caribbean, which is used to sweeten and add extra flavor to cocktails. It is particularly thick in consistency and always contains lime and sugar in its ingredients, but it may also be additionally flavored with clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and almonds. Its color can range from clear or slightly yellow to intensely golden.
