The Korg SV-2 88 is a professional 88-key vintage stage piano designed for live performances, practice, and studio recording. It features the Real Weighted Hammer Action 3 (RH3) keyboard, with graded hammer action and 8 sensitivity levels, delivering the authentic mechanical response of a concert acoustic piano. The EDS-X (Enhanced Definition Synthesis - eXpanded) sound engine offers 128-note polyphony and ten times the sample capacity of the previous generation, with 72 factory sounds covering acoustic and electric pianos, organs, synthesizers, and strings. It also features a Korg Valve Reactor (12AX7) analog tube in the preamp stage, dedicated Realtime Control knobs on the front panel, and an extensive selection of vintage-style effects.

The Korg SV-2 88 features the premium 88-key Real Weighted Hammer Action 3 (RH3) keyboard. This mechanism reproduces the graded resistance of a grand piano, providing a heavier feel in the lower registers and a progressively lighter feel in the higher registers. It also offers 8 different velocity curves, allowing the dynamic response to be precisely tailored to the musician’s playing style.

EDS-X Sound Generator & Expanded Memory Samples

EDS-X sound generation technology uses high-resolution, multi-channel sampling to reproduce the natural sonic details of instruments, such as hammer noise, string resonance (Sympathetic Resonance), and key release (Key-off). The library includes German, Austrian, Japanese, and Italian concert grand pianos, classic electric pianos (Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Clavinet), tonewheel electric organs, as well as string ensembles and synthesizers.

Valve Reactor 12AX7 Preamp & Effects Processing

At the preamp stage, Korg Valve Reactor technology with a genuine 12AX7 tube adds organic warmth, natural compression and analog distortion to the sound. The effects section is divided into 6 independent stages, including a 3-band equalizer, Pre-FX (Compressor, Boost, Vox Wah), Amp Models (vintage amplifier and cabinet simulations), Modulation FX (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tremolo), Reverb/Delay, and a Master Limiter.

Ergonomic Realtime Control Panel & Professional Connectivity

The control panel of the SV-2 88 is designed for immediate, hands-on operation without complex menus. It features rotary controls with LED indicators for instantly selecting sounds, adjusting effects, and saving 64 favorite settings (Favorites). For connectivity, the instrument offers 2 balanced XLR outputs for direct connection to mixing consoles and PA systems, 2 x 1/4" TS analog outputs (L/Mono, R), 2 x 1/4" TS analog inputs (L, R), a USB-MIDI port, traditional MIDI In/Out ports, and 3 pedal jacks (Damper with half-pedaling support, Pedal 1 & Pedal 2).
