- When the temperature is low, there is a possibility that plasti dip® may not spray evenly due to freezing. The best thing we can do is place the spray in warm water for 5-10 minutes or warm it on a radiator. This results in the mixture softening internally and achieving the smooth result we want.
- Before proceeding to paint a car or motorcycle with plasti dip®, it is advisable not to have applied any polish or wax beforehand, as there is a chance that the plasti dip® may not adhere properly.
- Never paint a car or motorcycle if it has been previously painted with factory paint. At least one year should have passed to avoid problems with the varnish.
- When we want to create a stripe on a surface to achieve a straight line, we should remove the tape on the sixth "coat" (enough to achieve a good result) while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because plasti dip® has the property of re-liquefying when it falls on an already painted surface. Otherwise, if we remove the tape when it is dry, it will ruin the straight line we have created.
- When spraying, always hold the spray or gun in a vertical position relative to the surface. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
- It is advisable to spray in a place where there is no wind because the air might carry the material and dry the mist in an unwanted area. This results in the surface at that point not being smooth but having a sandpaper texture.
- Always clean the surface well before painting and ensure there is no moisture in the various crevices.
- In periods of low temperatures, each "coat" takes longer to dry.
- You can wash your car or motorcycle ten days later without fear, even with a pressure washer. Initially, you should be a bit more careful. As the days go by, the plasti dip® becomes very strong. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax every one and a half months approximately.
- The ratio of thick plasti dip® to thinner for spraying with a gun is 1:1. There is now also diluted plasti dip® spray which has a much better composition, coverage, and durability and can be sprayed directly.
- To spray plasti dip® correctly, the paint gun should have a 1.5-2mm nozzle, the pressure should be low (1.5-2 bar), it should be able to spray in a vertical open fan, and the quantity should be adjustable because the first "coat" should be light to create a base (approximately 50% coverage). The remaining 6 "coats" should be rich.
- At least 6 good "coats" should be applied, especially for large surfaces like a car, so that we can remove it in large pieces without difficulty when we want to.
- Never wash with active foam widely used in car washes. Use only simple soapy water.
- Be very careful with gasoline. Its contact with plasti dip® can cause it to fade. It is good to inform the employees at gas stations.
- High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good "coats" for the ideal result. Approximately 30 minutes should elapse between each "coat." The application with the gun should be quick to avoid running.
