The 135 East Hyogo Dry Gin from Kaikyo Distillery is named after the Akashi meridian, which passes by the distillery in the city of Akashi, Japan, at a longitude of 135 degrees east. The wider area of Hyogo prefecture is rich in Japanese botanicals, such as cedarwood, shiso leaves (local mint), chrysanthemums, Sansho pepper, and yuzu (a local citrus fruit).
The fruits and spices marry ideally in this aromatic gin. The 135 East Hyogo Dry Gin is produced with discontinuous distillation using the aforementioned Far Eastern ingredients along with juniper and other traditional London Dry botanicals. The result is an ideal balance of complexity and harmony, in an authentic Japanese spirit.
The 135 East Gin harmoniously blends Eastern and Western traditions both in the gin itself and on the label, where 20th-century Japanese individuals are depicted wearing Western-inspired attire.
