Intense smoke, sweetness, and iodine dominate. This particular bottle showed me a side of the distillery that pleasantly surprised me.
Pros:
1) Incredibly tasty
2) Still retains the main elements of the distillery (intense smoke, sweetness, iodine, etc.)
3) No colorant (E150) used, which I personally love because it adds authenticity and boldness (although the old version did contain colorant).

Cons:
1) For a younger whisky (compared to the 16-year-old), I expected a stronger smoke. Although it is true that it was slightly smokier than the 16-year-old, I was hoping that the 8-year difference would result in a more pronounced smoky flavor (I say this because the less mature a smoky whisky is, the more intense the smoky sensation will be. As a smoky whisky matures, the peated element weakens). I won't go into the specific ppm of this whisky because it hasn't been provided (although it is known that the distillery uses 35-40 ppm).
2) Although it is delicious, it lacks the complexity of the 16-year-old. Of course, the distillery may not have aimed for such complexity with this particular whisky and simply wanted to offer the consumer a more minimalist, straightforward bottle that hides an interesting story and, of course, showcases a new face of the distillery.
Overall, the 16-year-old is my favorite. However, there were several moments where the rawness of this particular bottle almost made me change my mind.
Regardless, I highly recommend it! One of my favorites!
Εντονος καπνος, γλύκα και ιωδιο κυριαρχουν. Το συγκεκριμενο μπουκαλι με εδειξε μια πλευρα του αποστακτηριου που με εξεπληξε ευχαριστα.
Pros:
1) Απίστευτα νόστιμο
2) Εξακολουθει να συγκρατει τα κυρια στοιχεια του αποστακτηριου (Εντονος καπνος, γλύκα, ιώδιο κτλ.)
3) Δεν εχει χρησιμοποιηθει χρώμα (Ε150) το οποιο προσωπικα λατρευω επειδη προσδιδει αυθεντικοτητα και τολμηροτητα (αν και η παλιά εκδοση του περιείχε χρώμα).

Cons:
1) Για ενα νεοτερο ουίσκι (σε συγκριση με το 16αρι) περιμενα εντονοτερο καπνό. Αν και αληθεύει ότι όντως ήταν ελαφρως πιο καπνιστο απο το 16αρι, ηλπιζα οτι η 8χρονη διαφορα θα εβγαζε εντονοτερη αισθηση καπνου στην γευση (αυτο το λεω διοτι οσο λιγοτερη ωριμανση εχει ενα καπνιστο ουισκι, τοσο πιο εντονη θα ειναι η αισθηση καπνου. Οσο ωριμαζει ενα καπνιστο ουισκι, τοσο το peated στοιχειο εξασθενει). Δεν θα μπω στο κομματι ppm του συγκεκριμενου ουισκι διοτι δεν εχει δωθει (αν και ειναι γνωστο οτι το αποστακτηριο χρησιμοποιει 35-40 ppm.
2) Αν και πεντανοστιμο, δεν εχει το complexity του 16. Φυσικα, το αποστακτηριο το ιδιο μπορει να μην στοχευε για κατι τετοιο με το συγκεκριμενο ουισκι και απλα να ηθελε να προσφερει στον καταναλωτη ενα πιο λιτο, straightforward μπουκαλι, που κρυβει μια ενδιαφερουσα ιστορια και φυσικα δειχνει ενα καινουριο προσωπο του αποστακτηριου.
Γενικα, το 16αρι ειναι το αγαπημενο μου. Υπήρχαν αρκετές στιγμες ομως οπου η ωμοτητα του συγκεκριμενου μπουκαλιου σχεδον με εκανε να αλλαξω γνωμη.
