This year Geography will take us on a journey to "Planet Earth." After last year's explorations of the beauties of our country, this year's journey will be farther afield.
We will get to know our Earth and the other celestial bodies that accompany it in the vast universe. We will travel to discover many important regions of our planet. We will become mountaineers in the largest mountain ranges, explore vast plains, deep lakes, and great rivers, which have been linked to ancient civilizations and always give life as they flow.
We will cross oceans and seas, reach the most remote islands, find ourselves in deserts, polar regions, and tropical forests. We will learn about the way of life of other inhabitants of our planet. We will study religions, languages, traditions, and social systems that shape culture.
We will confront the most significant problems caused to the natural environment by today's technological civilization and realize that we must change our attitude towards our unique "home," the Earth. We will feel responsible for preserving our environment so that our actions and activities—today and in the future—are guided by the proper use of resources. This will help us become more mature and responsible citizens, capable of intervening and positively influencing global developments.
