    I have lubricated my electric hair clipper with WD40 and although it penetrates perfectly, it continued to make noise because there is metal-on-metal friction at a high frequency and sufficient temperature. With pressoil, the noise almost disappeared, because pressoil is 100% for lubrication and does not contain many volatile hydrocarbons, like the penetrating WD40. I believe it also works for sewing machines.
