The U 87 is the most well-known and widely used Neumann studio microphone. It is equipped with a large dual-diaphragm capsule with 3 polar patterns: omni, cardioid, and figure-8. These are selected by a switch located just below the grille. Additionally, a 10 dB attenuation switch is located at the rear, and when activated, it allows the microphone to record sound sources up to 127 dB without distortion. The low-frequency response is adjustable according to your recording needs. The U 87 has a unique "transparent" character and frequency response that has made it beloved worldwide. It is recognized by its distinctive design and is an excellent choice for studios, film, broadcasting, and television. It is also used as a main microphone for orchestras, as a "spot mic" for single instruments, and as a vocal microphone for all types of music and speech. It comes with a shock mount.
