This is the first time for me to purchase a Philips TV (coming from LG which, in my opinion, has by far the best operating system WebOS) and the reason was that I wanted to upgrade in inches. The 43-inch LG works perfectly and was moved to the living room, while the Philips filled my room with its satisfying 58 inches. I bought it for 389 euros during the black week, and at this price, I consider it to be an incredibly good value for money. I specifically wanted a TV with a VA panel and not IPS like the LG because it will be used in a dark room where I don't need good viewing angles. It has a very good contrast and black performance, it just needs some adjustments to fit your preferences. The good thing is that it offers many options. The sound is fine for me, but I won't evaluate it because I always use an external sound source (soundbar with wireless subwoofer). Its operating system is very simple, completely basic, it won't impress anyone. However, it does its job flawlessly and without any glitches (which is essential for me). In conclusion, I would say that it is an excellent entry-level TV purchase for someone who knows why they are buying it. It's not OLED, nor NANO or QLED. For Netflix movies, gaming on PS4 and Xbox, it is perfect without having to spend a fortune. Happy shopping, and if I come across anything additional, I will update!
EDIT: After 4 months of use, I am coming back to point out some negatives that I have noticed. Many users mention issues with the operating system, and they are right. Personally, I don't experience any freezing or channel loss, BUT I have to press the button almost twice to change the channel, and overall, the response is slow. This is the worst thing I have found, along with the poor ergonomics and the position of the button on the remote control. After 4 months, I still struggle to find it blindly. Also, as you can see in the photo, the position of the "TV" button that switches back to channel mode from an external source is impossible to reach and it is frustrating. I won't lower the rating because I still believe it is worth the money.
FIRMWARE UPDATE 15/4/2021:
After the latest update, the response is much better and the channels change instantly. The software situation has improved significantly.

This is the third time I have had to contact Philips' service. The previous two times, the technician did not find anything strange with the TV, the pictures are probably photoshopped. We will see this time.

If we assume that I am just unlucky and got a faulty piece, I would say that the TV is barely worth the money I paid (€389 for a 58'' TV). Very poor viewing angles. Mediocre image quality, blacks crash. In HDR, the colors appear dull instead of vibrant. Dolby Vision seems to be just a certification, I don't see it offering anything to this particular TV. The software is very basic and user-friendly, but the options for applications are very limited. It had many issues at the beginning, as mentioned in other reviews (image would turn off, channels would be lost, etc.), but they have been fixed with updates.

On the positive side, the sound is really good.

As a final conclusion, I wouldn't touch it for the current price of €500+.

If it ever drops to €350-400 again, maybe it would be worth it due to its size, but I don't have a comparison with other 55'' 4K TVs from unknown brands that play at these prices. I imagine they can't be much worse, though

  • What happened is that the screen suddenly went black, after 2 years and 6 months. So you understand that it is out of warranty. The official Philips service told me to change the panel, which is not worth it. I wrote to the company about the problem that occurred with daily use in the afternoon after work, like all families. The unacceptable response was that nothing can be done, it is out of warranty and we should have been more careful. I did not ask for a free replacement, I emphasize that. So why would you spend 500 euros to buy a Philips and not buy the cheapest one with a 2-year warranty again and whatever happens, happens. You won't regret your money. At least not a bigger amount. For me, the picture quality is low, the sound is mediocre and of course, due to the problem with very normal use, I would NOT recommend it.

I would warn you not to buy it!
I bought the TV in '20 for about 380 euros and since then I have called the dealership 6 times. The first five times I called from the second month because it was losing channels and the last time because the screen was black, there was sound, but no image at all. I called the dealership and the response was to send me some general instructions for restarting the TV, which did not solve the problem. I replied to the dealership to send a technician to check it or to replace it and the response was that it is out of warranty.

We are now talking about a product that I have already informed 6 times about a problem and still they could not do anything.

I bought it for 400 euros 2.5 years ago and the screen started flickering. Today, the panel burned out without any power interruption. Unfortunately, it is out of warranty. My technician told me it's not worth repairing it, so I bought a new one. Thank you very much, Phillips!!! I will never buy again. The positive thing is that it has a very good image

Hello everyone!! Owner of the 58-inch TV for 3 years now, I had, like everyone else from what I see in the comments, a problem with the channels which was solved with the latest update. Also, 5 days ago, while the TV was playing, the screen suddenly went black while the sound was playing normally in the background. I tried restarting but nothing happened. Just when I had decided to buy a new TV, I decided to try my luck with a technician!! In the end, after 3 days, the TV is ready and working properly after the technician's repair, with a cost lower than 100€. This means that the repair was worth it instead of buying a new one worth at least 500€. I'm writing this because I have seen many comments facing the same problem and opting for the solution of buying a new one. Try your luck with a technician, it might be worth it!!! From what I was told, the problem was in a component of the panel, which was easily fixed!

I bought it in November 2020. After 2.5 years, in May 2023, the TV panel got burned and it displays vertical lines (out of warranty). I bought it for 369€, truly a waste of money...!!

    Waste of money
Problem with channel reception from the beginning
Upgrades, upgrades, and the same thing every now and then
After two years, the panel shows horizontal red or white lines...
    Slow in commands
To get it back every time it gets stuck, you have to unplug it from the socket
    Inconvenience......
I bought it two years ago for 380 euros
Every time I contacted Philips support, I heard an automated message... no help at all.

    Just FAR from Philips.
I had the previous model and it had various problems from the first day. After a year and under my pressure, they replaced it with this one, and within 1 year, a white screen, and now without warranty! Why does the warranty continue from the first purchase?
    400 euros wasted.

I bought it for 370€ on Black Friday... now it's priced at 550€... I wouldn't choose it at 550€... it's not the best in terms of picture quality... but for a 4K Smart TV with 58 inches for 370€, it was the best purchase I've ever made... and of course, I bought it blindly without seeing it in person... the truth is, with the right settings, it can become a 6.5 to 7 out of 10 television.
Just a reminder... don't do a software upgrade. SOS

The TV was purchased last year for €440 or the initial opinion was negative but by playing with the settings it completely transformed from a 5 to a comfortable 7. Of course, I didn't expect anything more due to the low cost big picture at that price, but it didn't disappoint me completely because of the quarantine, I couldn't see it up close, so the purchase was made blindly... Also, due to negative comments, it was neither upgraded nor synchronized to channels. On the other hand, I didn't buy it to watch ERT, so all those things that other buyers have written, I didn't have... no glitches, no black screens, or anything else that would ruin my overall experience... The HDR DOLBY VISION gives that extra something to movies and series easily... for me, VFM budget TV... Something lastly, a Sony 90J 75 was recently purchased and after a professional calibrator, the picture improved by 3 levels, so it requires a little exploration with the menus to bring it to a satisfactory level...

It's terrible, there is no picture, it doesn't change channels, it needs a software update, so you will have to be patient until they have the software, until then get another TV. STAY AWAY. The service is even worse, they say it's ERT's fault and nothing is recognized. I've been suffering since the second day. Get an LG or Samsung, they work fine. Finally, they are changing the motherboard, I've been without a TV for 20 days, they don't have spare parts and we'll see

389 euros 58 inches is perfect in everything. The purchase was made on the 12th of 2020, the only problem was after 2 weeks when YouTube wasn't running, but after contacting the company, it was fixed after making some adjustments. For Netflix, YouTube movies, it's just what you need without spending a salary. After a year, I come back to inform you that I am completely satisfied.

Bought on Black Friday for €389. My TV arrived on 8/12, which was 12 days ago. In these 12 days, I've probably watched a total of 10 hours of TV. Suddenly, one day as I exited Netflix, the screen went black and I only had sound. Exactly as the gentleman mentions in the comment below. I unplugged it, opened it up, and it showed a problem with the remote control. The + - buttons wouldn't change channels and it had erased some channels from memory. After spending an hour and a half and trying multiple times to unplug and plug it back in, as well as experiencing many black screens, the TV was fixed. Unbelievable for a new 2020 TV model. I will return the product as soon as possible.

Market 15-12-20 As some others mentioned, black screen and channel memory loss. Hbbtv is not working. The service's proposal is to change the main board and not replace the faulty product. This specific television is a hassle. Money wasted...

A 3-month-old television with the known problem as I see sound and not image and with an update for changing the main board. New television, change the board for this specific issue. I have nothing else to say. Unacceptable company, I will definitely never buy anything related again.

Perfect menu doesn't stick at all easy installation.
Perfect image and the same goes for the sound, you don't need to turn it up over 15.
And for the price at 390 it's like a gift
