This review is about the colour: Black

Amazing clear sound. Especially compared to the KRK Rokit5 which was my previous pair.

I give one star less because I found a discrepancy in volume between the two speakers, even though they are set at the same point on the potentiometer.

Wonderful for PC, clean and frequencies ranging from low to high, they just lack a bit of volume! Extremely satisfied with the flac 24/96 I listen to from a USB flash drive and Blu-ray. Of course, I have a very good external DAC.

This review is about the colour: Black

I had the Presonus Eris E5 for 2 years until they "gave up" on me (details in the corresponding review I have posted), so let's start again.

I mainly use monitors to create sounds on my modellers and to play and record (I need to make sure that what I hear is what the modeler produces, and as little or no coloration as possible if possible), and for my recordings/productions. Less often to listen to music.

Space is 12 square meters (untreated room), mounted on the wall on stands, so it was a conscious choice to go for front ported monitors again.

Attention, these are BIG especially compared to the Eris E5, read the dimensions, measure and judge if they will be OK for your space.

Several adjustments to fine-tune their sound in your room through the dip switches on the back. XLR, TRS, and RCA connections (obviously, we prefer balanced whenever and wherever possible). The placement of the on/off switch is a flaw, right next to the power cable, for me it's not a deal breaker since I turn on and off all the monitors with a power strip switch, but come on.

At the same volume levels (low or moderate to low), they sound fuller than the Eris. There is no noise, hiss, or interference (there were some with the Eris depending on their placement, it wasn't anything special in my case but I mention it). Also, the first impression is that the high frequencies are sweeter in comparison, whatever that means.

Very nice bass, they go lower than the Eris. I clarify that the overwhelming majority of my recordings/productions are with guitars AND bass in Standard D tuning (one whole tone lower) and even there, there is absolutely no issue (just like there wasn't with the Eris).

After researching to see the differences between the first generation and the v2, it's the absence of hiss and better bass response in the latter. The price difference is significant, I don't know if it's worth it (and I haven't tried the v1), so it's up to you.

ATTENTION, in Greece, even authorized resellers provide them with a ONE-year warranty (you can find them with a 3-year warranty abroad, now whether they will cover you or turn them back to you the same or worse if something goes wrong - see the review of the Eris 5 which were purchased from such a store - remains to be seen).

This is the initial evaluation, I need to spend more time with them to come back with further feedback.

These speakers are the most balanced you can find at these prices... For anyone mixing music with a lot of low frequencies, stay away from YAMAHA HS series if you want accurate highs and flat bass, stay away from KRKs. The only good alternatives are the JBL MK2 and in a slightly more expensive category, the Adams also play. THE BIGGEST POSITIVE IS THE DEFUSER in front of them, which means you don't need a large distance from the wall behind them, making them ideal for use in a small space where you don't have many placement options. So far, great sound and very flat and reliable for their price.
