Description & Specifications

The Modal Electronics Cobalt8 synthesizer is an eight-voice polyphonic instrument with 37 velocity-sensitive keys and aftertouch. Extended Virtual-Analogue Synthesis combines traditional technology with modern capabilities, while its wavetable architecture features 34 complex algorithms and a morphable 4-pole Ladder filter. The eight polyphonic voices support the creation of sounds such as strings and synth pads, while mono mode for bass or lead uses 64 oscillators.

The instrument supports MPE and includes a real-time and step sequencer with 512 notes, a programmable 32-step arpeggiator, and Animation Lanes. Its enclosure is made of aluminium, while full-size MIDI connections and 3.5 mm Sync inputs and outputs make it easy to integrate into productions and live performances. The free MODALapp provides access to the synthesizer’s features and software updates, and is available for macOS, Windows, iOS, iPadOS, Android, and AU / VST3.
