The KENKO Teleplus Pro 300 DGX converters are manufactured with precise quality from multi-coated optical glass by Hoya Corporation, the largest manufacturer of optical glass in the world. These glass elements are designed to match the optical quality of the prime lens (even at the edges) and telephoto zoom lenses. The optical design of the elements and the light path are wide enough to avoid causing vignetting.
The PRO 300 family is specifically designed to be used with prime telephoto lenses of 100mm and above, such as 300mm f/2.8 lenses, and works best with telephoto lenses from 200mm to 500mm. The PRO 300 can be used with telephoto zoom lenses as well as prime lenses. However, Kenko does not recommend using them with zoom lenses that have a range starting below 50mm.
The KENKO PRO 300 AF Teleplus converters feature genuine Gate Array IC (Integrated Circuitry). This means that the unique circuitry architecture of the converter maintains the signal integrity between the camera body and the lens. These converters are designed to operate electronically in the same way as original manufacturer's converters.
Full AF function with the PRO 300 2.0x DGX is possible when using camera lenses with a maximum aperture of F2.8 or brighter. Please note that AF will only work properly if there is enough light and contrast in the subject to activate the camera's AF sensors. (Autofocus is required when using lenses with a smaller maximum f-stop than those mentioned above.)
The DGX Teleplus converters feature updated circuitry architecture for more accurate recording of exif data. In the photo's exif data (metadata recorded with a digital image), the DGX converters record the equivalent aperture and focal length of the lens setting plus the tele-converter. Optically and mechanically, they are identical to the previous high-quality converters of the DG series.
