Our 11-year-old large dog started having incontinence, with no bacteria or tumor present. Simply due to age-related wear and tear, he developed chronic cystitis, as the bladder does not empty completely and its muscle tone/capacity has declined. We initially added an extra walk to his already two, to help empty the bladder, but nothing changed. We gave him other pills, but still nothing. With Urinovet, it took about a month to see a difference, but they really helped prevent him from leaking drops or even creating "puddles" every now and then in the house. Also, the pad on his bed stays dry (from being soaked and needing changes during the day), and I won't even mention the relentless mopping. Now, at most, he might leak a few drops while sleeping, on the pad. However, as soon as I give them to him, I keep an eye on him, because besides being detoxifying, which helps prevent bacteria from sticking to the walls of the bladder and causing irritation, they are also diuretics. So ideally, it's best to give them about half an hour before the evening walk. He really enjoys them, he can eat them whole (he chews them a bit) or grated in his food. It is certainly a considerable expense, as he takes 4 pills a day due to his weight, but since they work and the dog is obviously relieved... it's worth it.
P.S. - I wrote the details so that no one thinks it's a magic pill for all conditions; I'm talking about our dog with this specific symptomatology.
P.S.2 - A year and a half later, our dog is now 12 years old, the 4 pills have gradually become 3, then 2, and now 1 every night, and even this 1 is still effective.
P.S.3 - He is approaching 14 years old, his bladder is doing well with 1 Urinovet every night before bed, he doesn't wake up, and the pad is used preventively.
