Overall, it does what it's supposed to do and is decent for its price. It does have some annoying downsides. Note that I have mainly used it on Linux, and so far it has worked relatively well.
Pros:
- Good key feel, keys are quite stable
- Compact form factor - great for those who want space on their desk
- Has all the basics needed, fairly good compatibility with Linux (all hardware keys are recognized)
- Generally sturdy construction for its small weight. Doesn't feel cheap.
- Has some useful automation. For example, the touchpad automatically recognizes pinch to zoom (sends Ctrl-Scroll signal automatically, so it works on Linux in a similar way, unlike the touchpad on my Dell (or any other touchpad I have used with Linux). It's convenient because it doesn't require special drivers to do the basics (although see cons above for this).
- Discreet touch on the F and J keys so you don't have to look down if you touch type.
Cons:
- The touchpad has a somewhat mediocre feel and fingers sometimes stick to it. However, it still gets the job done, I have used worse.
- There is no obvious way to disable touch-to-click or the touchpad in general, so many times you will end up accidentally clicking because your fingers touched the touchpad (I think you can do this from Windows only through software, and you need to download a mouse-and-keyboard center or something similar).
- The F-keys are not grouped together (at least they are in a consistent mapping above the numbers). The default setting is for them to function as media keys, which I find unacceptable (although Microsoft is not the only one doing this).
- It doesn't have support feet, so if you are used to working with tilted keyboards, you need to support it on something (I used a book).
- The physical buttons above the touchpad could have more useful functions. I have no idea why it has that button on the top left that only clicks where the cursor is, or what the point of the button with the headphones on it is.
- Some minor design flaws. For example, it doesn't make sense to have the buttons squeezed together to reduce the footprint on the desk but leave empty space above the left and right arrow keys, where useful buttons like PageUp, PageDown, etc. could have been placed.
- It has several hidden functions that are not visible anywhere, and I discovered them online, usually from other models. These are not described anywhere, not even in the manual.
Hidden functions (I will update the list if I discover more):
- To make the F-keys permanently function as F-keys instead of media keys, press Fn+CapsLock. Unfortunately, if you shut it down from the power button, you will need to re-enable this.
- In addition to using F11, F12 for PageUp, PageDown (which are not very convenient), you can use Home, End, PageUp, PageDown by pressing Fn and using the arrow keys. It's a bit mysterious why they didn't include a distinct indicator for this.
Γενικά κάνει αυτό που πρέπει και τίμιο για τα λεφτά του. Εχει και διάφορα μείον που σπάνε τα νεύρα. Υπόψη ότι το έχω χρησιμοποιήσει κυρίως σε Linux, μέχρι τώρα σχετικά απροβλημάτιστα.
Θετικά:
- Καλή αίσθηση στα πλήκτρα, τα οποία είναι αρκετά σταθερά
- Compact form factor - για όσους θέλουν να έχουν χώρο στο γραφείο
- Εχει όλα τα βασικά που χρειάζεται, αρκετά καλή συμβατότητα με Linux (αναγνωρίζονται όλα τα hardware keys)
- Γενικά στιβαρή κατασκευή για το αρκετά μικρό βάρος του. Δεν το νιώθεις ψεύτικο.
- Εχει κάποιους αυτοματισμούς που εξυπηρετούν. Π.χ. το touchpad έχει αυτόματη αναγνώριση του pinch to zoom (στέλνει αυτόματα σήμα Ctrl-Scroll, οπότε λειτουργεί και στο Linux με αντίστοιχο τρόπο, πράγμα που δε συμβαίνει π.χ. στο touchpad του dell μου (ή σε κανένα άλλο touchpad που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει με Linux). Βολεύει γιατί δε χρειάζεται ειδικούς drivers για να κάνει τα βασικά (αν και δείτε και στα μείον πάνω σε αυτό).
- Διακριτικά αφής στα πλήκτρα F και J για να μη χρειάζεται να κοιτάτε κάτω εάν ξέρετε τυφλό.
Αρνητικά:
- Το touchpad έχει κάπως μέτρια αίσθηση και κολλάνε τα δάχτυλα καμία φορά. Πάντως τη δουλειά του την κάνει, έχω χρησιμοποιήσει και χειρότερα.
- Δεν υπάρχει προφανής τρόπος να απενεργοποιήσεις το touch-to-click ή το touchpad γενικότερα, οπότε πολλές φορές θα καταλήξετε να κάνετε κλικ κατά λάθος επειδή τα δάχτυλά σας άγγιξαν το touchpad (νομίζω μπορείς να το κάνεις αυτό από τα Windows και μόνο software-ικα, και πρέπει να κατεβάσεις ένα mouse-and-keyboard centre ή κάτι τέτοιο).
- Τα F-keys δεν είναι ομαδοποιημένα, (τουλάχιστον είναι σε σταθερή αντιστοιχία πάνω από τους αριθμούς). Η default ρύθμιση είναι να λειτουργούν ως media keys, το οποίο το θεωρώ απαράδεκτο (η MS δεν είναι η μόνη που το κάνει όμως)
- Δεν έχει ποδαράκια στήριξης, οπότε αν έχετε συνηθίσει να δουλεύετε σε πληκτρολόγια με κλίση, πρέπει να το στηρίξετε πάνω σε κάτι (έβαλα ένα βιβλίο)
- Τα φυσικά κουμπιά που έχει πάνω από το touchpad θα μπορούσαν να έχουν πιο χρήσιμες λειτουργίες. Ανάθεμα και αν έχω καταλάβει γιατί έχει αυτό το κουμπί πάνω αριστερά που κάνει μόνο κλικ εκεί που είναι ο κέρσορας, ή τι νόημα έχει το κουμπί με τα ακουστικά απάνω.
- Κάποιες μικροαστοχίες στο design. Για παράδειγμα, δεν έχει νόημα να έχεις στριμωγμένα τα κουμπιά για να μειώσεις το αποτύπωμα στο γραφείο αλλά να αφήνεις κενό χώρο πάνω από το αριστερό και το δεξί βέλος, όπου θα μπορούσες να είχες βάλει χρήσιμα πλήκτρα όπως PageUp, PageDown, κ.λπ..
- Εχει αρκετές κρυφές λειτουργίες που δε φαίνονται πουθενά και τις ανακάλυψα on-line, συνήθως από άλλα μοντέλα. Αυτές δεν περιγράφονται πουθενά, ούτε στο manual.
Κρυφές λειτουργίες (θα ενημερώσω τη λίστα έτσι και ανακαλύψω και άλλες):
- Για να κάνετε τα F-keys να λειτουργούν μόνιμα έτσι και όχι ως media keys πατήστε Fn+CapsLock. Δυστυχώς, εάν το κλείσετε από το κουμπί του power θα χρειαστεί να το ξαναενεργοποιήσετε αυτό.
- Εκτός από το F11, F12 για τα PageUp, PageDown (που δεν είναι καθόλου βολικά) μπορείτε να κάνετε Home, End, PageUp, PageDown πατώντας το Fn και χρησιμοποιώντας τα βελάκια. Γιατί δε βάλανε ένα διακριτικό για να φαίνεται αυτό είναι λίγο μυστήριο.
