The review concerns the 65” QE65Q60AA which was purchased for €575 as a gift for my parents (through a promotion from a well-known chain in combination with a cashback offer from a Greek bank) with the aim of upgrading from a 20+ year old CRT SABA. It has been 5 months since I have had it in my hands and I am writing this specific review.
I should mention that the television is mainly used for viewing satellite channels but also for IPTV subscription channels (and secondarily for DIGEA channels). We do not use applications like Netflix or Cosmote TV.
Build quality: As many others have mentioned above, it is very poor and the TV requires special care during transport and cleaning. In fact, my television arrived with a line of burnt pixels near the frame (see related photo) which I believe occurred during its transport; however, it is something you only notice if you sit 30cm close to the TV, so it doesn't bother me and it doesn't seem that the nearby pixels have burned after 5 months of usage that I have had it.
Picture: It is truly wonderful in both color and contrast! In fact, there is a Samsung technology (which you can turn off if it bothers you) called Motion Xcelerator that improves motion and frame smoothness, giving more realism to the picture. As for the blacks, it is not OLED and as shown in a photo, especially in the upper corners, backlight bleeding is visible, which however does not bother unless there are black bars above and below due to resolution and aspect ratio differences (only at night, of course, during the day you don't notice it). Additionally, if the TV faces a window, you will need curtains (see related photo). I consider the viewing angles to be good; however, I wouldn't sit more than 50 degrees from the center as it is a VA panel. It does not support HDMI 2.1, VRR, and is not 120Hz, so I do not recommend it for hardcore gamers. It also does not support Dolby Vision. Finally, HDR10+ is supported normally.
Sound: It is normal for a TV of its category. Of course, if you are demanding, you should get a soundbar. Personally, I connect the TV via Bluetooth to the Hi-Fi I have when I have guests at home. Many times Bluetooth has latency (delay-lag) in connectivity, and thus there is a problem with audio-video synchronization, a problem that this particular TV does not seem to have (I have tested it, as I mentioned, with Bluetooth connection to Hi-Fi but also with headphones and a portable speaker without noticeable delay). On the downside, it does not have a 3.5mm jack and does not support DTS and DTS:X audio.
Connectivity: I have connected it with everything you can imagine and it has not disappointed. I have tried portable HDDs, SSDs, USB sticks, and even a wireless USB remote/keyboard (see related photo) that I bought to facilitate navigation (tip for those thinking of using a wireless keyboard: the buttons on the remote translate to the Function Keys and the ESC of the keyboard, while if we press ctrl+alt+del it restarts the TV; however, I have not yet found how I can turn it on/off from the keyboard, while the media keys Play, Pause, Volume Up/Down at least do not work for me, but there is the relevant capability using the Function keys). I also haven't been able to change the language of the wireless keyboard to Greek from English.
Apps: Unfortunately, it is not an Android TV, so forget about KODI; however, its software (Tizen) has a plethora of applications, to mention a few - Video: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Rakuten TV, ERTFlix, Cosmote TV. Audio: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, TIDAL. Radio: Mytuner radio (it also has many Greek stations). For telecommunications, I only found Google Duo. For IPTV, there are many applications, the most well-known being OttPlayer, which works perfectly where you set up the channels from your desktop PC without requiring further actions on the TV (beyond connecting to your account, of course).
User-friendliness: It doesn't seem familiar to the average user. The remote control, although modern, charges with sunlight as well as with a type-c cable, has very few buttons, and some of them are completely useless (e.g., what do I do with the buttons for Netflix, Prime Video, and Rakuten?). They put the numbers and the 4 colored buttons into just one button on the remote, making navigation incredibly difficult! Additionally, switching between satellite and antenna channels is relatively difficult; you have to press and hold the guide button (CH) and then switch in the top right of the menu (instead of putting it on one button on the remote, they've made it a whole science). Sorting the channels is quite time-consuming, especially when dealing with 1000+ satellite channels (they also force you to create a favorites list because you can't sort in the initial lists). The TV restricts you in terms of the languages it supports and the languages you can type (fortunately, it has English and Greek, but personally, I would like it to have additional languages, e.g., Russian, which it does have on YouTube).
Functionality: I haven't found it to lag anywhere, and it doesn't take long to start up. Keep in mind that to stream 4K, you need a 50 Mbps line (and hope to get at least 25 Mbps).
Value for money: For what it offers and its size, as well as the €575 I paid, I believe it is worth it. Of course, we will see how long it lasts over time.
Η αξιολόγηση αφορά την 65” QE65Q60AA η οποία αγοράστηκε στα 575€ τελική ως δώρο στους γονείς μου (μέσω προσφοράς γνωστής αλυσίδας σε συνδυασμό ενέργειας επιστροφής από ελληνική τράπεζα) με σκοπό την αναβάθμιση από CRT SABA 20ετίας+. Έχουν περάσει 5 μήνες από τότε που την έχω στα χέρια μου και γράφω την συγκεκριμένη αξιολόγηση.
Να αναφέρω ότι η τηλεόραση χρησιμοποιείται κυρίως για την προβολή δορυφορικών καναλιών αλλά και για συνδρομητικά κανάλια IPTV (και δευτερευόντως για τα κανάλια της DIGEA). Εφαρμογές τύπου Netflix, Cosmote TV δεν χρησιμοποιούμε.
Ποιότητα κατασκευής: Όπως έχουν αναφέρει και πολλοί άλλοι παραπάνω είναι πολύ κακή και η TV χρειάζεται ιδιαίτερης προσοχής στην μεταφορά αλλά και στον καθαρισμό. Μάλιστα σ’ εμένα η τηλεόραση ήρθε με μια γραμμή από καμένα pixels κοντά στο πλαίσιο (δείτε σχετική φωτογραφία) που νομίζω ότι προέκυψε κατά την μεταφορά της ωστόσο είναι κάτι που παρατηρείς μόνο αν κάτσεις στα 30cm κοντά στην τηλεόραση άρα δεν με ενοχλεί και δεν φαίνεται να καίγονται τα pixels παραδίπλα μετά από ένα 5μηνο χρήσης που την έχω.
Εικόνα: Πραγματικά είναι υπέροχη και σε χρώματα και σε αντίθεση! Μάλιστα υπάρχει μια τεχνολογία της Samsung (που μπορείς να την απενεργοποιήσεις αν σε ενοχλεί) που ονομάζεται Motion Xcelerator και βελτιώνει την κίνηση και την ομαλότητα των καρέ, δίνοντας περισσότερο ρεαλισμό στην εικόνα. Ως προς τα μαύρα δεν είναι OLED και όπως φαίνεται σε μια φωτογραφία, ειδικά στις άνω γωνίες, φαίνεται το backlight bleeding που ωστόσο δεν ενοχλούν παρά μόνο όταν υπάρχουν οι μαύρες μπάρες πάνω και κάτω λόγω διαφοράς ανάλυσης και aspect ratio (μόνο το βράδυ φυσικά, την ημέρα δεν το καταλαβαίνεις). Επιπλέον, αν η τηλεόραση σας βλέπει κάποιο παράθυρο, θα χρειαστείτε κουρτίνες (δείτε σχετική φωτογραφία). Οι γωνίες θέασης θεωρώ ότι είναι καλές ωστόσο δεν θα καθόμουνα παραπάνω από 50 μοίρες από το κέντρο καθώς πρόκειται για VA panel. Δεν υποστηρίζει hdmi 2.1, VRR και δεν είναι 120hz κατά αυτόν τον τρόπο δεν την προτείνω για hardcore gamers. Δεν υποστηρίζει επίσης το Dolby Vision. Τέλος, το HDR10+ υποστηρίζεται κανονικά.
Ήχος: Είναι νορμάλ για τηλεόραση της κατηγορίας της. Βέβαια αν είστε απαιτητικοί πρέπει να πάρετε soundbar. Προσωπικά συνδέω την τηλεόραση μέσω Bluetooth με το Hi-Fi που έχω όταν έχω κόσμο στο σπίτι. Πολλές φορές τα Bluetooth έχουν latency (καθυστέρηση-lag) στην συνδεσιμότητα και έτσι υπάρχει πρόβλημα αποσυγχρονισμού εικόνας-ήχου, πρόβλημα που δεν φαίνεται να έχει η συγκεκριμένη τηλεόραση (την έχω δοκιμάσει, όπως είπα, με bluetooth σύνδεση σε Hi-Fi αλλά και με ακουστικά και φορητό ηχείο χωρίς να είναι αισθητή η συγκεκριμένη καθυστέρηση). Στα αρνητικά είναι ότι δεν έχει υποδοχή 3.5mm και δεν υποστηρίζεται ο ήχος DTS και DTS:X.
Συνδεσιμότητα: Την έχω συνδέσει με ό,τι μπορέσετε να φανταστείτε και δεν έχει απογοητεύσει. Έχω δοκιμάσει φορητούς HDD, SSD, USB sticks αλλά και ένα ασύρματο τηλεκοντρόλ/πληκτρολόγιο usb (δείτε σχετική φωτογραφία) που αγόρασα για να διευκολύνω την πλοήγηση (tip για όσους σκέφτονται να χρησιμοποιήσουν ασύρματο πληκτρολόγιο: τα κουμπιά του τηλεκοντρόλ μεταφράζονται στα Function Keys και το ESC του πληκτρολογίου ενώ αν πατήσουμε ctrl+alt+del γίνεται επανεκκίνηση της TV ωστόσο δεν έχω βρει ακόμη πως μπορώ να την απεν/ενεργοποιήσω από το keyboard ενώ τα media keys Play, Pause, Volume Up/Down σε μένα τουλάχιστον δεν λειτουργούν ωστόσο υπάρχει η σχετική δυνατότητα με χρήση των Function keys. Επίσης δεν έχω καταφέρει να αλλάξω την γλώσσα του ασύρματου πληκτρολογίου στα ελληνικά από τα αγγλικά).
Εφαρμογές: Δυστυχώς δεν είναι android tv άρα ξεχάστε το KODI ωστόσο το λογισμικό της (Tizen) έχει ένα πλήθος από εφαρμογές, για να αναφέρω μερικές - Βίντεο: Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Rakuten TV, ERTFlix, Cosmote TV. Ήχος: Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, TIDAL. Ραδιόφωνο: Mytuner radio (έχει και πολλούς ελληνικούς σταθμούς). Από τηλεπικοινωνία βρήκα μόνο το Google Duo. Για IPTV έχει πολλές εφαρμογές με πιο γνωστή την OttPlayer που δουλεύει μια χαρά όπου φτιάχνεις τα κανάλια από το desktop-pc σου χωρίς να απαιτείται παραπάνω ενέργειες στην TV (πέραν της σύνδεσης στο account σου φυσικά).
Οικειότητα προς τον χρήστη: Δεν μου φαίνεται να είναι οικεία στον μέσο χρήστη. Το τηλεκοντρόλ αν και είναι μοντέρνο φορτίζει με τον ήλιο αλλά και με καλώδιο type-c, έχει πολύ λίγα κουμπιά και κάποια από αυτά είναι εντελώς άχρηστα (πχ τι να τα κάνω τα κουμπιά για Netflix, prime video και Rakuten). Βάλανε τους αριθμούς και τα 4 χρωματιστά κουμπιά σε μόλις ένα κουμπί στο κοντρόλ δυσκολεύοντας απίστευτα την πλοήγηση! Επιπλέον, η εναλλαγή από κανάλια δορυφόρου και κεραίας είναι σχετικά δύσκολη, θα πρέπει να πατήσετε κρατημένο το κουμπί του οδηγού (CH) και μετά να κάνετε την εναλλαγή πάνω δεξιά στο menu (αντί δηλαδή να το βάλουν σε ένα κουμπί στο κοντρόλ το έχουν κάνει ολόκληρη επιστήμη). Το sort των καναλιών είναι αρκετά χρονοβόρο ειδικά όταν έχεις να κάνεις με 1000+ δορυφορικά κανάλια (σε αναγκάζουν επίσης να φτιάξεις λίστα αγαπημένα γιατί στις αρχικές λίστες δεν μπορείς να κάνεις sort). Η τηλεόραση σε περιορίζει στις γλώσσες της αλλά και στις γλώσσες που πληκτρολογείς (ευτυχώς έχει αγγλικά και ελληνικά αλλά προσωπικά θα ήθελα να έχει επιπλέον γλώσσες πχ τα Ρωσικά, τα οποία τα διαθέτει βέβαια στο YouTube).
Λειτουργικότητα: Δεν την έχω βρει να κολλάει πουθενά και δεν αργεί να ανοίξει. Υπόψιν σας ότι για να στριμάρετε 4Κ θέλετε 50ρα γραμμή (και να εύχεστε να πιάνετε τουλάχιστον 25mbps).
Σχέση ποιότητας-τιμής: Για αυτά που προσφέρει και το μέγεθός της όπως και τα 575€ που έδωσα, θεωρώ ότι τα αξίζει. Βέβαια θα δούμε και πόσο θα αντέξει στο χρόνο.
