Description

A plane crashes on a tropical island. The survivors, small students from England, soon realize that the island is uninhabited. There are no adults anywhere. They organize themselves, appoint a leader, and establish rules to survive until they are rescued.

In the beginning, it seems like a dream adventure. But the games of the day are followed by the nightmares of the night. Some begin to believe that a beast haunts the island. Gradually, fear and violence dismantle their small society, and the boys rush headlong into barbarism...

The book that bestowed worldwide fame upon William Golding is now considered a classic, one of the greatest works of modern literature. It continues to resonate with millions of readers around the world with its simple, irresistible myth about the end of innocence and the deep, primeval darkness that always lurks behind our civilized selves.

“His works, with the clarity of the art of realistic narrative and the diversity and universality of the myth, illuminate the human condition in today’s world.” From the reasoning of the Swedish Academy for awarding William Golding the Nobel Prize in 1983.

First of all, let me say that I don't understand the "you have to read it" that you'll see everywhere about this book. I fell into the trap myself of course, but let's be honest, while the story is very strong in a general sense, the writing and the way the plot unfolds are incredibly tiresome.

It has some very strong literary moments but maybe 2-3 up to the point I managed to read.

I left it exactly halfway because I simply felt like I was struggling to finish it, I wasn't enjoying myself. I found out what happens in the end by asking chat gpt.

Finally, the book made me wonder once again where Steven King gets more of his income from, his books? Or his comments about other books?

It is considered one of the books that everyone must read; it indeed reveals the human nature and the brutality that we all hide within us, however, I expected it to captivate me more

It was published in 1954 and it is the author's first book. Although at first the author struggled to find a publisher to release it, "Lord of the Flies" was destined to become one of the top 100 books in English literature. It has been translated into more than 30 languages, adapted into film twice, and is taught in schools!

"Lord of the Flies" is a very original, unique, harsh but realistic book that conveys many messages, the most important being how easily one can forget civilization, principles, and values when the need for survival arises. It is a book that I highly recommend to everyone!

Rating: 4/5 stars because while I really liked the story of this book and the messages it conveys, I was not impressed with the writing. The dialogues were sharp, unnatural, and repetitive, which personally did not satisfy me...

It goes without saying that the book is a classic and is recommended for everyone, of all ages and genders. It taps into the primal origins of humanity and explores the dark instincts that lie in wait to take control, abolishing and surpassing entire centuries of civilization in a minimal amount of time. Masterpiece!!!
