The game is a Remake of the 6th game in the Wonder Boy series, also known as Monster World 4 for the Mega Drive released in 1991.
You control Asha, a girl who leaves her village to follow a traditional process to become a warrior and save the kingdom from destruction. The story is simple and even for the standards of the time it was released, it doesn't take itself seriously.
The gameplay is equally simple, like all the games in the series, with attack and defense that improve by finding better swords, shields, and armor, as well as a Pokemon that serves as a glide, double jump, and protection, and changes the way you play as it grows. The remake doesn't make any effort to enrich it beyond some "quality of life" improvements, a few new cutscenes, and the ability to freely roam in the background in areas that in the original game were done with screen transitions. The levels are generally faithfully made, simply removing many screen transitions. The game is relatively easy, so avoid the Easy mode.
The presentation is the area where the game suffers. The original doesn't look bad at all, and in my opinion, the 2.5D cell-shaded graphics of the remake take away some of the magic of the game, making it look like a cheap indie game instead of the vintage gem that it is. In contrast to the other Remake in the series (Dragon's Trap), the new graphics detract from the experience instead of adding to it, and given the minor changes, there is no option to switch between the two with a button like that one.

You should keep in mind that you are playing a game from 1991. The improved presentation is the only reason why someone would get a remake of a vintage game that chose to be 95% faithful to the original, and here it somehow makes it look worse. If you buy this package, it includes the original game as a voucher code (it's not on the disc). If you only plan to play the old version, which is not even in analog format on the disc, there is no reason to buy this package and not get it directly digitally from the PS Store.
If you are interested in the series, Strictly Limited has an Anniversary Collection with everything (unlike the regular Collection you will find on Skroutz and in stores, which only has 4 games), but the stock is limited.
