In the interstellar space, matter (that is, various gaseous chemical elements) is very sparse. However, in some regions, huge concentrations of gases and dust are observed. There, matter is slightly denser, forming clouds that contain everything needed for a star to be born. Observations made so far have shown that the materials constituting the nebulae are so finely dispersed that the space in this region is considered emptier than the best vacuum we can artificially achieve in our laboratories. However, because they are enormous in size, they contain enough material to create hundreds or even thousands of new stars.
